Oats are not just for breakfast

Oats are not just for breakfast

Oats have been cultivated for centuries and have been used in traditional medicine through the ages.  As a topical treatment, colloidal oatmeal has emollient and anti-inflammatory properties that have been commonly used and applied for the treatment of skin rashes, erythema, burns, dry skin, itchy skin and eczema.

In an investigator blinded study published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, Reynertson et. al. showed that extracts of colloidal oatmeal diminished pro-inflammatory cytokines and provided significant improvements in skin dryness, roughness and itch intensity.

This clinical study suggests that that colloidal oatmeal skin protectant lotions can be effective at relieving itch and alleviating moderate to severe dry skin while improving the stratum corneum function.  In addition, the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity may further account for some of the observed clinical benefits.

Our Hand, Nail and Cuticle cream contains colloidal oatmeal and has been clinically tested to be safe on skin.
